Hyun Bin secretly donated millions to help fight COVID-19 -reports

"Crash Landing on You" star Hyun Bin reportedly donated 200 million won (about P8.5 million) to help fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a report on Koreaboo, the actor secretly donated to the non-profit organization Community Chest of Korea.

The report said Hyun Bin did not tell his agency about his donation and that he asked the organization to keep it a secret.

The South Korean actor released a letter through his agency's Instagram account, with reports saying he gave his donation right after releasing the letter on February 21.

His letter reads as follows:

You might be spending day after day anxious and worrying over the Coronavirus disease 2019 which is occurring all over the world and throughout Asia including China and Japan as well as Korea. I’d like to ask after your health at least by writing to express my worry over whether the place you are at is safe.
?
Just as we’ve always overcome difficulties by cheering each other on despite difficult times, I hope the Coronavirus disease 2019 passes by as soon as possible.
?
I also appreciate those working tirelessly day and night to eradicate the virus, and I will cheer them on until the end. Furthermore, I sincerely wish the quick recovery of those suffering from its infection.
?
Again, I hope all those reading this are able to maintain their safety and health from the virus and I will pray this incident safely passes by.

It was earlier reported that his CLOY co-star Son Ye-jin donated 100 million won (about PHP 4.1 million) to the Daegu branch of the Community Chest of Korea.

Ye-jin told Soompi that Daegu was a special place for her because it was the city she was born and raised in, and it was where her parents are currently based.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in declared "war" against the coronavirus on Tuesday, as the country reported its biggest daily case increase to date, sending its total past 5,000 — the largest in the world outside China.

The country just confirmed 851 new cases, taking the national total to 5,186, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, adding that two more people had died, raising the toll to 28.

Around 90 percent of the cases have been in Daegu and the neighboring province of North Gyeongsang, the KCDC said.
