Korean actor Moon Ji Yoon passes away at 36

South Korean actor Moon Ji Yoon has passed away at the age of 36.

According to a report on Soompi, the "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo" actor died of acute septicemia, or blood poisoning, on the evening of March 18.

A source from his agency, Family ENT, said Ji Yoon went to the hospital due to "severe sore throat," but was transferred to the intensive care unit when his condition worsened.

"He lost consciousness after that and he was not able to recover," the source was quoted as saying.

Ji Yoon made his debut in 2002 with the MBC drama "Romance."

Aside from "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo," Ji Yoon also starred in "Cheese in the Trap," "Sassy Girl Chunhyang," and "Watcha Wearin'?"
