Fil-Am queen Ongina sashayed into ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars’ in a Darna-inspired look

An OG Fil-Am drag queen from the very first season “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is back for a new season of “RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars.”

Ongina made quite an entrance on the premiere last May 8, sashaying into the werkroom in a stunning Darna-inspired costume.

She struck a pose and said: “So ya’ll thought I’d never get here. Sorry, I was stuck in traffique!”

In an Instagram post, Ongina explained that “The look was inspired by our female, Filipino superhero, Darna, but exaggerated for drag to represent beauty, strength and individuality.”

The costume was also “inspired by the 7,000 plus islands of my beautiful country the Philippines — The one known as, ‘The Pearl of the Orient Seas’!”

“It represents a mix of my Filipino heritage and my life across the Pacific,” she wrote.

Her entrance look wowed several of her competitors on RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars Season 5, including Alexis Mateo (Season 3), Blair St. Clair (Season 10), Derrick Barry (Season 8), India Ferrah (Season 3), Jujubee (Season 2), Mariah Paris Balenciaga (Season 3), Mayhem Miller (Season 10), Miz Cracker (Season 10) and Shea Coulee (Season 9).

Ongina, born Ryan Palao, finished fifth on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 1.
