Jimmy Fallon apologizes for an old 'blackface sketch' in SNL that resurfaced online
Late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday took to Twitter to apologize for a 20-year-old "Saturday Night Live" sketch that resurfaced.
In the sketch, he wore a "blackface" to do an impersonation of Chris Rock.
The host called his decision “terrible” and said he appreciates it that people have held him accountable.
“There is no excuse for this,” Fallon wrote.
“I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable,” he added.
In 2000, while on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface. There is no excuse for this.

I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable.
Fallon received major backlash on social media Tuesday, with clips and screen caps from the televised sketch becoming a hot topic on Twitter. Netizens even accompanied their tweets with hashtags like #JimmyFallonisoverParty.
That particular hashtag — #JimmyFallonisoverParty — trended even on Philippine Twitter for the most part of Tuesday.

I know I did not just open Twitter and see that Jimmy Fallon did blackface in 2000. Nobody is safe from Twitter when we got this much time in our hand. First Lana, then Doja cat, and now Jimmy Fallon. Please let me catch my breathe. #jimmyfallonisoverparty pic.twitter.com/3o1z5IchIa

Before becoming host for “The Tonight Show,” Fallon was a cast member of the comedy TV show “Saturday Night Live."
