‘Glee’ star Heather Morris offers to help search for friend, co-star Naya Rivera

“Glee” star Heather Morris has offered to help authorities search for her friend and co-star Naya Rivera who has been presumed dead after going missing at a lake in Ventura County, California last week.

Morris tweeted out to the Ventura County Sheriffs, informing them that she’s trying to conduct an on-foot search with a small group of friends.

“My name is Heather Morris, I’m Naya’s close friend and co-worker, and I’m trying to conduct an on foot search and rescue mission along with a small group of friends at Lake Piru,” the actress tweeted.

“I understand your team is doing EVERYTHING in their power, but we are feeling helpless, powerless and want to help in any way. I have left a message with the department of Rescue and Air today, and I will call again tomorrow. Thank you,” she added.

Rivera is presumed to have drowned while boating on Lake Piru with her four-year-old son Josey last week.

Authorities said her child was found alone and sleeping in a drifting boat, but the body of the 33-year-old actress had been found almost 24 hours after she was last seen.

Morris and Rivera have been co-stars on “Glee” since the first season in 2009, playing high school cheerleaders Brittany and Santana who eventually became partners as the storyline progressed. — Margaret Claire Layug/RSJ, GMA News
