Taylor Swift’s surprise album ‘Folklore’ drops Friday

Taylor Swift has announced the surprise release of her new album!

The award-winning singer shared on her social media accounts that her 8th studio album “Folklore” will be out this Friday.

“Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that DID happen. And that thing is my 8th studio album, folklore. Surprise (hug emoji),” Taylor shared on Instagram Thursday, posting a black and white photo of herself wandering through the woods.

The singer-songwriter said she poured all of her “whims, dreams, fears and musings” into this new album.

The standard edition will contain 16 songs, while the deluxe edition will include a bonus track called “The Lakes.”

Taylor said that while she recorded the music in isolation, she collaborated with various musicians, including Bon Iver and Aaron Dessner, among artists.

Taylor will also release the music video for “Cardigan,” which she both wrote and directed.

The singer assured her fans that the entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspector, and that everyone wore masks and kept their distance during the production.

She also said she did her own hair, makeup, and styling.

“Before this year I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed,” Taylor said.

“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with. Love you guys so much.” – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
