Jessie J opens up about experiencing deafness due to Meniere's disease

Jessie J revealed that she is currently recovering from a Meniere's disease, which caused her to experience deafness during the Christmas weekend.

The English singer-songwriter, who is known for several hits like "Price Tag" and "Bang Bang," opened up about her diagnosis in a video she posted Tuesday on Instagram.

"I woke up (day before Christmas Eve) basically what felt like I was completely deaf in my right ear," Jessie said.

"[I] couldn't walk in a straight line, that's really not important but I got told i have Meniere’s syndrome. I know that a lot of people suffer with it and I've actually had a lot of people reach out to me and, like, give me great advice," she added.

Though admittedly being troubled by the experience, the singer assured the public she has sought medical treatment and was "feeling much better."

"I'm fine, though, no, I'm good. Everyone is like, 'I'm so sorry.' It's fine. It could be way worse. It is what it is," Jessie said.

"It just threw me off. Like, on Christmas Eve, I was literally in the ear hospital, like, going, 'What is going on?' but I'm grateful that I went early and, you know, they worked out what it was real quick," she added. "I'm super grateful for my health," she said.

Jessie also mentioned that she was still able to sing, albeit not very loud for the time being.

"I've just been laying low in silence," said the singer. "That's the first time I've been able to sing and actually bear it. [As] You can hear, I'm not very good at singing loud yet."

"I just miss singing so much and being around...anyone (laughs), but I just wanted to wish you guys a really merry Christmas season, from me and my [ear]," she added.
