Lady Gaga has a message for Japan on 10th anniversary of deadly quake, tsunami

Lady Gaga has a heartwarming message for the people of Japan at the 10th anniversary of the deadly earthquake and tsunami that hit its northeastern coast in 2011.

In a Twitter video, the pop star recalled watching the footage on the news.

"[I was] thinking, 'What can I do to help?' I remember making a lot of phone calls that day," she said.

"Through the years, seeing and hearing about the vast recovery of your beautiful cities, I have so much respect for the people of Japan for your strength, kindness, and love for each other," she added.

She also said that she thinks the country's recovery "gives hope" to the people struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"However, I can also imagine that there are many people fighting through the pain, emotionally and mentally. So let's all continue to support each other, be kind to each other, and love each other," she said.

"I'm always praying for you Japan, for a better world. We still live in a difficult time with the coronavirus. Please take care of yourself, and be kind to yourself and to the people around you," she added.

Lady Gaga also hinted on a possible visit in the near future.

"I look forward to coming back to Japan. Soon," she said with a flying kiss.

On March 11, 2011, a massive 9.0 magnitude quake spawned a monster tsunami that left about 18,500 people dead or missing along its northeastern coast and sparked the worst nuclear disaster in a quarter century. —JCB, GMA News
