'Fifty Shades of Grey' actor Jamie Dornan's father passes away due to COVID-19

"Fifty Shades of Grey" star Jamie Dornan's father passed away after contracting COVID-19. He was 73.

According to a PEOPLE report on Tuesday, renowned obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Jim Dornan died on Monday.

The Northern Ireland Pancreatic Center (NIPANC) where Jim was the president, expressed its condolences and wrote on Twitter, Monday, "It is with great sadness that NIPANC has heard of the death of Professor Jim Dornan, who died in the UAE on 15 March. Jim, who was the President of NIPANC, the Northern Ireland pancreatic cancer charity, lived a life of public service."

"He was internationally renowned as a world-class obstetrician and gynaecologist.  His relationship with NIPANC was founded on his own family’s experience of this terrible cancer, with the tragic death of his first wife, Lorna, more than twenty years ago," it added.

Aside from being NIPANC's President, Jim also served as Ulster University's Health and Life Sciences chair.

In 2005, Jim was also diagnosed with lymphocytic leukemia.

Aside from Jamie, Jim is survived by his wife Dr. Samina and daughters Liesa and Jessica. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
