Tom Holland to go on social media hiatus: 'I spiral when I read things about me'

By HERMES JOY TUNAC,GMA News

Tom Holland has been off the radar on social media for months, but “The Spider-Man: No Way Home” star briefly utilized Instagram again on Sunday to make two important announcements.

According to Tom, he has taken a break from social media for his mental health because he finds “Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming.”

“I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online and ultimately, it’s very detrimental to my mental state. So I decided to take a step back and delete the app,” the actor added.

In his brief return to IG, Tom shed light on the charity “stem4,” an education program that aims to help children manage their mental health.

“There is an awful stigma against mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn’t something that we should be ashamed of but it is something that is much easier said than done,” he explained.

Towards the end of his video, Tom announced that he was “going to disappear from Instagram again.”

“Thank you for your love and support. I love you all and I’ll speak to you soon,” he ended.
