Leslie Phillips, voice of Sorting Hat on ‘Harry Potter,’ has passed away

Leslie Phillips, the voice of the Sorting Hat on “Harry Potter,” has passed away.

On Tuesday, the movie franchise gave tribute to the actor for the legacy he left with “Harry Potter” fans. 

“We are incredibly sad to hear the passing of the wonderful Leslie Philips who voiced the Sorting Hat with such inimitable wit and style in the Harry Potter films,” the post read.

“His words warmly welcomed each student upon their arrival at Hogwarts and revealed where they would flourish best. He will be very much missed.”

As of this writing, the sad announcement has garnered over 43,000 reactions and 8,700 shares from fans mourning the loss.

According to a BBC report, Phillips died peacefully in his sleep on Monday. He was 98 years old.
