NBA: Barea, Shved shine as Wolves down Nuggets
JJ Barea and Alexey Shved combined for 34 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves won on the road against the Denver Nuggets, 101-97, Thursday (Friday, PHL time).
It was a team effort for Minnesota, which had six players in double figures. Kevin Love added 12 points and 17 rebounds, five of them offensive, to make up for his poor shooting from the field.
Minnesota led 47-43 at the half, before Andre Iguodala led the Nuggets with a 27-22 third period to grab a hold of the lead, 70-69.
Tied at 91 with 2:43 remaining, Luke Ridnour hit a three from Barea to make it a three-point game, 94-91. Barea would follow his assist with his own trey at the 1:54 mark to make it a six-point game for the Timberwolves, 97-91.
Andre Miller tried to keep the Nuggets alive with a lay-up seven seconds after Barea's three, 97-93, but the former Dallas Maverick would respond with another point-blank shot with 61 seconds remaining.
Denver went to Andre Iguodala for another basket inside to make it a four-point game with 44 seconds to go, but Miller failed to cut the lead further, missing a three on the next offensive set.
Ty Lawson and Kosta Koufos had 16 each for Denver, while Iguodala and Miller combined for 25 points, 11 boards and 16 assists in the losing effort. - RAF/AMD, GMA News
