ABL: Former GlobalPort import Justin Williams replaces Gabe Freeman
A trio of Asean Basketball League squads, including local club San Miguel Beermen, made roster changes ahead of the weekend's slate of games, the ABL announced Wednesday via press release.
SMB was forced to swap out import and leading scorer Gabe Freeman, after he suffered a strained MCL. He was replaced by the recently-released PBA GlobalPort Batang Pier import Justin Williams, who put up 13.43 points, 18.00 rebounds and 4.57 blocks in seven games of the Commissioner's Cup.
In addition to the Beermen, the Saigon Heat and the Thailand Slammers also made rosters changes involving Filipino players.
The Heat released Philip Morrison and Karl Dehesa, replacing them with ABL veteran Al Vergara, and former Ateneo Blue Eagle Oping Sumalinog, who was last with the PBA-DL's NLEX Road Warriors, winners of the recently-concluded 2012-13 Aspirants' Cup.
Meanwhile, the Thailand Slammers swapped out former FEU sharpshooter Jonathan Fernandez for another Blue Eagle, Tonino Gonzaga, who was part of Ateneo's five-peat run in the UAAP. - AMD, GMA News
