NBA: Cavaliers win draft lotto, get number one overall pick in 2013
The Cleveland Cavaliers were awarded the first overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft after winning the annual draft lottery, Tuesday (Wednesday, PHL time) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The team was represented once again by Nick Gilbert, son of team owner Dan Gilbert. Nick was on hand when the Cavaliers drew the first overall pick in 2011, which the team used to select Kyrie Irving, and in 2012, when the Cavs got the fourth choice, which eventually became Dion Waiters.
The Cavs had a 15.6 percent chance of drafting first, thanks to their 24-58 record, third-worst in the NBA. The second overall pick went to the Orlando Magic (20-62) who had the best odds of getting the top pick, 25 percent, while the Washington Wizards (29-53) will pick third.
