The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters sent the Kia Sorento to their second straight lopsided defeat, 117-88, in the 2015 Philippine Cup on Wednesday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Returning star Paul Lee led the way for the Elasto Painters with 22 points. He was one of seven different players who scored in double-figures for Rain or Shine.

"We started the conference slow. In our first two games, we were just trying to regain our chemistry and our confidence back," said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.

"This is the way to do it."

Kia, which played for the second straight game without playing coach Manny Pacquiao, was coming off an 87-55 demolition at the hands of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel last Saturday.

This time, it was Rain or Shine's turn to flex its muscles, controlling most of the game before breaking away completely after a three-point barrage from Lee sparked a big run to bridge the third and fourth quarters.

Despite the big win, Guiao warned his troops against resting on their laurels.

"We have a big game against Talk 'N Text on Sunday," he said. "If you're not careful, you think you're good enough, then next game you're not playing as well, it pricks your confidence."

The Elasto Painters improved their record to 2-1, while Kia dropped to 1-2. The Sorento remained winless against any of the PBA old guard, as their lone win came on opening day against fellow expansion club Blackwater. — JST, GMA News
