Sinag Pilipinas names 12-man team: Parks, Ravena in, Teng, Van Opstal out

The Sinag Pilipias squad that will compete in the 2015 Southeast Asia Basketball Association (SEABA) Championship in Singapore released its 12-man roster on Monday.

Naturalized center Marcus Douthit leads the lineup, which includes D-League players Troy Rosario, Scottie Thompson, and Ray Parks from Hapee, Norbert Torres and Almond Vosotros from Cebuana Lhuillier, and Glenn Khobuntin from Jumbo Plastic.

Completing the list are collegiate stars Kiefer Ravena of Ateneo de Manila University, Mac Belo and Russel Escoto of Far Eastern University, Kevin Ferrer of University of Santo Tomas, and Jiovanni Jalalon from Arellano University.

De La Salle University players Jeron Teng, Arnold Van Opstal, and Prince Rivero did not make the final cut, together with Ateneo's Thirdy Ravena and San Beda College's Baser Amer.

Gilas Cadet mainstay Garvo Lanete was also excluded from the list, as he has yet to fully recover from an injury.

The list was released two weeks before the national team opens their campaign against Indonesia on April 27 under coach Tab Baldwin. The squad is tasked to bag first place in the tournament, which also serves as the qualifier for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship. -- JST, GMA News
