PBA: Ponferada powers Rain or Shine past Barako

Jewel Ponferada and Jeff Chan had 18 points each while combining for 21 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to victory against the Barako Bull Energy, 110-104, on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

With the win, the Elasto Painters grabbed a share of second place, trying the San Miguel Beermen with an identical 5-1 win-loss card.

"It ties us  in second place," said Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao. "We just want to keep our momentum going. Jewel played well today."

It was just a five-point game entering the final period, 76-71, before Maverick Ahanmisi and Jeff Chan hit triples to stretch the lead to 15, 90-75. The Elasto Painters led by as many as 18 points after a Chris Tiu trey with four minutes remaining, before the Energy made it respectable in garbage time.

RR Garcia led Barako with 23 points, while Willie Wilson had 21 points and 13 rebounds. Josh Urbiztondo came off the bench for 16 markers. - GMA News
