Wayne Chism pulls hamstring, in doubt for Rain or Shine-Ginebra match

Rain or Shine may have to face Barangay Ginebra with an all-Filipino lineup as their import Wayne Chism pulled a hamstring against Meralco on Wednesday night.

The 2015 Commissioner's Cup Best Import hurt himself early in the third quarter as the Elasto Painters absorbed a 98-95 setback to the Bolts for their first loss of the conference.

Head coach Yeng Guiao said the team has yet to get an update on Chism's medical status, but they would wait for him to heal if it's only going to take a week.

"If it will take more than that, we have to consider a replacement. But we're already considering backups at this point," he said.

Chism left the game for good in the third period and was later taken to the hospital to have his leg checked. He scored three points in less than 17 minutes of play.

Guiao said the team has no idea how serious the injury is, but they are bracing for the worst if Chism is ruled unable to play against the Gin Kings on Sunday.

"Just in case the news is not too good we're hoping we can have time to bring somebody in," the coach said. — BAP, GMA News
