PBA: Standhardinger, Ravena lead rookie class of 2017

Christian Standhardinger was the top pick at the Philippine Basketball Association's draft on Sunday.

The German-Filipino Gilas Pilipinas star was selected by the San Miguel Beermen.

Also expected was the NLEX Road Warriors, with the second pick, choosing Ateneo standout Kiefer Ravena.

The Blackwater Elite selected versatile big man Raymar Jose, while the Phoenix Fuelmasters went with DLSU’s Jason Perkins. Jeron Teng, meanwhile, went to the Alaska Aces with the fifth pick.

Sixth pick Robbie Herndon went to GlobalPort, as Rey Nambatac went to Rain or Shine as the seventh selection. Phoenix, picking eighth, nabbed Sidney Onwubere, while Star snagged Lervin Flores for the ninth pick.

With the 10th and 11th pick, TNT KaTropa opted for Mark Tallo and Jon Gabriel, while Jett Manuel became an instant crowd favorite after being elected by Ginebra with the 12th pick. — BM, GMA News
