Ginebra drubs Meralco for 3-1 series lead, inches closer to title

Barangay Ginebra is one win away from winning the PBA Governors' Cup title after a 94-72 drubbing of Meralco on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Justin Brownlee paced the Gin Kings with 27 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while Stanley Pringle added 21 points and seven boards.

The Bolts leaned on Best Import Allen Durham, who scored 21 points, 27 rebounds, and seven assists. Chris Newsome and Raymond Almazan had 12 points each.

Meralco made only three shots from beyond the arc and could not get into rhythm on the offensive side of the ball. Ginebra also took advantage off their errors, scoring 27 points off turnovers.

The two teams, who are facing each other in the finals for the third time in four seasons, started off evenly matched in the first quarter but Ginebra slowly pulled away and then blew the game wide open in the second half.

The win gave the Kings a commanding 3-1 lead against their rivals. Game 5 is on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena. —MGP, GMA News
