Greg Slaughter to 'take a break' as contract expires

Big man Greg Slaughter decided to "take a break" as his contract with Barangay Ginebra expired recently.

Slaughter made the announcement on his social media accounts Saturday night.

"Now that my contract has expired, I’ve decided to take a break to be able to work on myself in all aspects," the top pick of the 2013 PBA draft wrote.

Slaughter has been with Ginebra for six years and won four championships with the team.

"Six years, four championships, a lifetime of experiences and memories. It’s been a fun ride being with this team. I will forever be proud to have played for Ginebra, a dream of mine that came true when they drafted me in 2013," he added.

He may be taking a break but the former Ateneo tower said, "I may not know what the future holds, but one thing is for sure, the best is yet to come!"

Aside from being a four-time champ, Slaughter was also named Best Player of the Conference in the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup. He was also part of the Gilas team which bagged the gold medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. — MDM, GMA News
