Kyrie Irving wants Kobe Bryant to be the NBA logo

One year after the memorial for Kobe Bryant at Staples Center, Kyrie Irving is once again renewing the call to make the late basketball legend the NBA logo.

In an Instagram post, the Brooklyn Nets star shared a photo of the logo with Bryant's image edited over it.

"Gotta happen, [I don't care] what anyone says. Black kings built the league," Irving said.

The current NBA logo, which was introduced in 1969, features the silhouette of Hall of Famer Jerry West.

Shortly after Bryant's death last year, around two million people signed a petition to make him the NBA logo.

Bryant won five NBA championships and played his entire career with the Los Angeles Lakers.
