Reigning MVP Calvin Oftana among NCAA standouts picked in PBA Rookie Draft

Products of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) were among the new players selected during the Rookie Draft of the Philippine Basketball Association held on Sunday.

Reigning NCAA Most Valuable Player Calvin Oftana of the San Beda Red Lions was selected third overall in the regular round of the rookie draft. He was chosen by the NLEX Road Warriors.

University of Perpetual Help big man Ben Adamos was chosen sixth overall by the Alaska Aces, while Letran Knight Larry Muyang also made it to the first round after being selected number 7 by the Phoenix Fuelmasters.

RK Ilagan of San Sebastian College-Recoletos landed in the third round, being selected 31st overall by the Aces.

RJ Argamino (De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde), Antonio Bonsubre (San Beda), and Reymar Caduyac (Lyceum of the Philippines) were also picked in the latter rounds of the draft.

Jordan Heading topped the Gilas round of the rookie draft, while Joshua Munzon was the overall first pick of the regular round.
