Renren Ritualo to be inducted into DLSU alumni's Sports Hall of Fame

Renren Ritualo will be inducted to De La Salle Alumni Association's (DLSAA) Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday.

"Today, I will be inducted into The DLSU’s Sports Hall of Fame," Ritualo said in a tweet. "Thank you again to the DLSU Alumni Association for including me. Animo!"

Ritualo will be inducted alongside 1-Pacman party-list Rep. Mikee Romero, DLSU board member to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Edwin Reyes, brothers Greg, Jose Mari, and Rene Banzon, Alvin Ocampo, and Ira Kim Flores.

Ritualo was an integral part of the De La Salle University's (DLSU) run of four straight UAAP championships from 1998-2001.

He is also one of DLSU's five retired jerseys, along with basketball legends Kurt Bachmann (33), Lim Eng Beng (14), volleyball star Manilla Santos (14), and the late Olympian and table tennis athlete Ian Lariba.

Ritualo eventually became a part of the national men's basketball team and was named Philippine Basketball Association's Rookie of the Year in 2002.

Other athletes such as basketball players Jvee Casio and Jeron Teng, and volleyball players Johnvic de Guzman, Jacqueline Alarca, Stephanie Mercado, Michele Gumabao, and Melissa Gohing, are among those named as DLSAA Lasallian Sports Achievement Awardees. —Justin Kenneth Carandang/JMB, GMA News
