Thirdy Ravena to return home soon after maiden Japan B. League season

By BEA MICALLER,GMA News

Thirdy Ravena is now itching to reunite with his family and loved ones after wrapping up an exhausting season in the Japan B. League.

The flashy San-en NeoPhoenix import told GMA News Online that he is tipped to leave for the Philippines either in the last week of May or first week of June as his club formally exits from playoff contention with a dismal 12-47 win-loss card.

"Yes, I'm planning to go home but there are still post-tournament events like meeting with the fans so I still need to stay for a couple more weeks," Ravena said in a phone conversation Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Ravena was reduced to a mere cheerleader as NeoPhoenix suffered a close beating from the hands of Shinshu Brave Warriors, 70-85, to put an end to their season.

According to the 24-year-old cager, despite a gloomy season where he sustained injuries and contracted COVID-19, he still sees this experience as something that can improve his skills, both on and off the court.

"Things happen, especially if it's not within your control and can't do much about it. You just have to deal with it," the 6-foot-3 Ateneo product said.

Ravena also took the opportunity to give credit to NeoPhoenix management for always having his back since the day he arrived in the team as a reinforcement.

"I couldn't ask for more," he said. "They've shown love like from day one to this very moment. All I want is to actually give back to the club in a way that I can show my real game to represent the club as best as I can."
