MPL PH S8

NXPE wins third straight, drops Echo

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

Nexplay Evos scored another sweep this time against Echo, 2-0, to continue their resurgence in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines elimination round on Saturday.

The win helped NXPE rise into the top half of the standings as they leapfrogged Echo (8 points) by tallying 9pts, six matches into the season. It was their third straight win after losing the opening three matches.

NXPE opted for a vision-dominant draft in Game 1 taking Selena and Popol and Kupa that proved effective early on, posting an early gold lead by the 3rd minute that they extended to 3k after a 5-1 clash in the 5th minute. Renejay “Renejay” Barcase (Kaja) led the rampage with a triple kill.

Although Echo tried to mount a comeback in the middle game, John Paul “H2wo” Salonga (Ling) stopped them on their tracks with nifty split pushes to conquer the two-time MPL champs by the 15th minute, 1-0. He finished with a solid 7-1-6 KDA.

With momentum in their favor, NXPE dominated Echo early in Game 2 as they quickly established a 6-3 kill lead in the 5th minute courtesy of a H2wo 3-0-0 KDA.

Despite outstanding set-ups from returning Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura (Chou) that included a 6th minute Way of the Dragon on H2wo for the shutdown, Echo could not stop NXPE as the Dogie-led squad poured the pressure on the opposing map and finished the series in a 16-minute win without dropping a single turret.

H2wo once again led the way with a 6-1-KDA. Renejay followed up his stellar Kaja play in Game 1 with a 5-3-8 KDA on Lapu-Lapu in Game 2.
