Santillan, Nambatac lead Rain or Shine upset of SMB

Rain or Shine rookie Leonard Santillan posted a career-high 21 points while Rey Nambatac hit a go-ahead basket late to lead the Elastopainters to an upset win over the San Miguel Beermen, 95-93, Sunday in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup in Pampanga.

Santillan proved to be crucial in the final stretch of the game as he posted 10 points in the fourth quarter.

But it was Nambatac who provided the biggest shot as he delivered the game-winner with two seconds left. Prior to this, San Miguel had tied the game at 93 after a CJ Perez layup with 12 seconds on the clock.

The Elastopainters were trailing for the majority of the game, but a 31-point rampage in the third period gave them the upper hand at the end of the third period, 72-69. The Beermen were leading at the end of the first half, 51-41.

Aside from Santillan and Nambatac, Javee Mocon delivered from both sides of the court as he registered a double-double of 18 markers and 12 boards to give the E-painters their sixth win in 10 games.

Terrence Romeo listed 20 points in the loss, while Arwind Santos had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Perez added 18 points of his own while Mo Tautuaa and Marcio Lassiter chipped in 13 and 11 points each.

The Beermen slipped to 5-3 after its loss.
