The clubs of several Filipino cagers suffered losses on Saturday in the 2021-2022 Japan B. League season.

Kobe Paras struggled all game long against Seahorses Mikawa but almost brought the game into overtime after the second-generation baller knocked down a floater to tie the match at 75-apiece with 10 ticks left in the game.

Mikawa's Davante Gardner, however, buried a hook shot just before the time expired as the Seahorses walked away with a close 77-75 victory.

Paras finished with six points, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks as Niigata absorbed its fifth straight loss for a 2-6 win-loss card.

Over in Division 2, both Juan Gomez de Liaño and Kemark Carino endured losses in their team's respective campaigns.

Gomez de Liaño, the former UP Fighting Maroon, carved out eight points and two assists in Earthfriends Tokyo Z's 71-56 loss to FE Nagoya but he was not able to finish the game as he fouled out midway through the fourth.

Both teams collide anew on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, the debuting Carino could not get the win in his first Japan B.League game as he was limited to only eight minutes of action as Aomori Wat's suffered an 88-83 defeat against Kagawa Five Arrows.

They will try to bounce back on Sunday against the same team at 1 p.m.

Aomori currently holds a 1-6 win-loss card while cellar-dweller Tokyo Z is dead last at 0-7.

Lastly, Matthew Aquino, the latest Filipino cager to sign with a Japan B.League club, was already part of the lineup but did not see a single minute in Shinshu Brave Warriors’ 85-82 win over Osaka Evessa.

Shinshu, which plays in the first division, improved to 3-4 and will try to add more wins when it faces the same team on Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
