San Miguel trades Alex Cabagnot to Terrafirma for Simon Enciso

The San Miguel Beermen have parted ways with another veteran.

In a surprising move, SMB sent seasoned guard Alex Cabagnot to Terrafirma in a one-on-one trade for guard Simon Enciso. The deal was confirmed in a story published on the league's website on Saturday.

The deal came just days after the Beermen traded forward Arwind Santos to NorthPort for Vic Manuel.

Cabagnot played for the franchise from 2010 to 2014 before being involved in a trade that sent him to GlobalPort Batang Pier (now NorthPort). He returned to SMB during the 2014-2015 PBA Philippine Cup playoffs as part of a trade with Sol Mercado.

The former second overall pick has won a total of eight PBA titles and one Final MVP plum.

Meanwhile, Filipino-American Enciso was recently part of a trade that sent him from the Blackwater Bossing to the Dyip in exchange for Rashawn McCarthy last September.

For the PBA's part, deputy commissioner Eric Castro said that the deal was fair for both teams and stressed the league's trade committee carefully weighed all the factors including what both players can bring to the table for their respective clubs.

“We think it was a fair deal for both teams. We considered the impacts that they had brought to their former teams and what they can bring to their new teams," Castro said. "It was just a one-on-one trade, there were no other players involved in the deal.”
