Joe Devance as coach? 'Our arms are open for him,' says Tim Cone

Is Joe Devance open to take a coaching job after his retirement?

Apparently, Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone has already brought up the idea to the big man.

"We asked him if he could do that. We gave him an offer to stay with the team in a coaching position but he has a family to think about, he has things going on in his life," Cone revealed in the PBA Media Day held in Quezon City on Thursday.

Cone said Devance is looking for possibilities in the United States but he will always be welcome should he decide to come back.

"If after a year he feels like he wants to come back and contribute to the team, our arms are open for him," said the multi-titled coach. "He created quite a legacy with our team and deservedly so."

Coaching is not necessarily new for Devance. Back in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games held in Manila, Devance was a part of Cone's coaching staff for Team Philippines.

Devance announced on Wednesday his retirement from the PBA after playing for more than 15 years.
