Barroca, Jalalon shine as Magnolia completes comeback vs. NLEX for 3rd straight win


The Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots completed a come-from-behind win against the NLEX Road Warriors, 87-73, on Saturday in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Hotshots erased a 15-point deficit to notch their third straight win in the All-Filipino tournament.

After trailing 46-32 at the end of the first half, Magnolia exploded in the second half as it limited NLEX to only 27 points in the two quarters. The Hotshots had 33 points in the third period against NLEX's 12-point output in the third period and led by as much as 18 points, 84-66, in the 4:16 mark of the fourth quarter.

Playing in his 500th straight game, Mark Barroca had 18 points and five rebounds. Jio Jalalon also stood out with 16 points, nine assists, and six rebounds.

JR Quiñahan had 17 points while Calvin Oftana and Don Trollano added 14 points each in the NLEX loss.

With both teams tied at 4-3, Magnolia will try to continue their streak against Terrafirma Dyip on Friday, while NLEX will attempt to bounce back when they play Converge on Thursday.
