Jordan Clarkson's expected arrival on August 15 likely to be delayed, says Chot

Jordan Clarkson's expected arrival on August 15 is likely to be moved back to a later date.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) earlier said that the Utah Jazz star is 'sure to play' for the Philippines in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and was tipped to fly to the country on the 15th to join the Filipinos in the August window.

But Gilas head coach Chot Reyes said Clarkson could arrive later than initially expected.

"Wala pa, it's still being worked on," Reyes told GMA News Online.

"I think they'll make an announcement in the next few days. August 15 ang start ng practice but I don't think that's the date of his arrival."

If Clarkson, who last donned the national colors in the 2018 Asian Games, indeed suits up for the Philippines, the Filipino-American guard will see action as a naturalized player.

Gilas will face Asia Cup finalist Lebanon on August 25 on the road and Saudi Arabia on August 29 at home for the fourth window of the World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
