Rain or Shine shuts Meralco down to snap two-game skid

The Rain or Shine Elastopainters snapped its back-to-back losses as they shut down the Meralco Bolts, 113-96, in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The Elastopainters detonated for a 31-point explosion in the second quarter and limited Meralco to 16 points to wipe out a 14-point deficit in the first period. It was all Rain or Shine from then as it led by 16, 101-85, at the 6:22 mark of the final frame.

Gian Mamuyac and Mike Nieto combined for 42 points for the Elastopainters, while import Steve Taylor, Jr. posted 22 points and 15 rebounds to bring the squad to 3-3.

Meralco's losing skid extended to three in six games as Johnny O'Bryant had 30 points, while Raymond Almazan registered 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Rain or Shine will play the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters next on Wednesday while Meralco will face the San Miguel Beermen next on Saturday.
