San Miguel eliminates TNT from QF contention, cops third win in a row

San Miguel stretched its winning streak to three after eliminating TNT from playoff contention with a 119-99 beating in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.

San Miguel has now won three games straight to ascend to 6-5 while showing TNT the doors as the Tropang Giga dropped to 4-8.

Seven Beermen scored in double digits with import Devon Scott pouring in 28 points, highlighted by a 12-point outburst in the second period where San Miguel outscored TNT, 36-25, alongside his 14 rebounds, four steals, and three assists to tow SMB to the win while CJ Perez starred for the locals with 17 markers, six boards, three dimes, and a steal.

Vic Manuel, who started for the Beermen as June Mar Fajardo came off the bench, chipped in 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists as the backcourt duo of Simon Enciso and Marcio Lassiter churned out 15 and 12 apiece.

With SMB's dominant run, TNT will not be entering the playoffs for the first time in four years.

RR Pogoy registered 23 points for the Tropang Giga while Matthew Mobley collected 18 markers, seven rebounds, and seven assists but their production wasn't enough as TNT closed out its campaign on a losing note.

TNT was already riding a three-game losing slump prior to this loss.
