TNT completes comeback vs Ginebra to seal top seed

TNT secured the top seed after completing a come-from-behind victory against Barangay Ginebra, 114-105, to end the elimination round of the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup on Friday.

TNT erased a 14-point deficit as the Tropang Giga closed the elimination round with a 10-1 card riding an eight-game winning streak.

Ginebra, on the other hand, slipped to 8-3 ahead of the playoffs.

Import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson detonated for 34 points alongside 11 rebounds and four assists, four steals, and one block to rally TNT.

Mikey Williams and RR Pogoy provided the local support with the former dropping 25 points and six assists while the latter collected 22 boards and four boards.

TNT will face eighth-seed Phoenix Super LPG in the quarterfinals armed with a twice-to-beat bonus while No. 2 San Miguel will face Converge also with the playoff incentive.

Ginebra, who fell to third spot, will take on No. 6 NLEX while Meralco and Magnolia will sllug it out in the other pairing.

The quarterfinals will start on Sunday with the Converge-SMB and Ginebra-NLEX showdowns at 4:30 pm and 6:45 pm, respectively.
