La Salle wallops AMA by 83 points to set new PBA D-League record

Reigning champion EcoOil-La Salle on Thursday rewrote history after ripping hapless AMA Online by 83 points, 126-43, in the 2023 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The lopsided victory surpassed the previous record, which was held for six years by Tanduay, when it carved out a 141-65 win against Zark's Burger back in the 2017 Foundation Cup.

Six Green Archers reached double-digit scoring with Ben Phillips showing the way with 19 points laced with four rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Raven Cortez poured in 19 markers as well off the bench to go along with 13 boards and three dimes.

"Well, hindi naman namin iniisip 'yung record. It's good that we (eclipsed) it but we just focused on getting better. It's an opportunity for us to get better and we talked about it before the game na 'wag naming pipiliin 'yung kalaban namin," said La Salle deputy mentor Gian Nazario.

"Kahit ganito nangyari sa game namin sa AMA, we still think there are things we can be better at."

With the big win, La Salle has improved to 4-1 to tie San Beda University ahead of its crucial clash with Wangs Basketball @27 Strikers-Letran next Thursday at the same venue.
