Julaton fight in Argentina still on despite Casimero mobbing
Ana Julaton will push through with her WBO Junior Featherweight title defense against Yesica Marcos on March 16 in Mendoza, Argentina, despite a riot that broke out earlier this month during the fight of a fellow Filipino boxer Johnriel Casimero was mobbed by angry supporters after defeating hometown hero Luis Alberto Lazarte last February 11 in Buenos Aires. Despite some initial reluctance, Julaton's promoter, Allan Tremblay, confirmed that the Filipina-American's fight against Argentinian Marcos will push through. Tremblay's partner promotion group in Argentina is Osvaldo Rivero's KO Promotions, the same one that promoted the Casimero-Lazarte fight last February 11. KO Promotions' Rivero sent an email to Tremblay Tuesday, stressing that what happened to Casimero was an isolated incident. Rivero also assured Tremblay that they were working hard on beefing up the security in the Julaton-Marcos fight. - Renee Fopalan/AMD, GMA News
