Nonito Donaire now fifth in The Ring magazine's pound-for-pound rankings
A week after knocking out Jorge Arce in the third round, Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire's defense of his WBO and The Ring Super Bantamweight title against his Mexican opponent saw him rise in The Ring magazine's pound-for-pound rankings from sixth to fifth place.
Donaire, whose record is 30-1-0 with 19 KOs, also holds the IBF super bantamweight title.
The Filipino moves over American Adrien Broner, a lightweight fighter with a 25-0 record. Manny Pacquiao, who fell to Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez earlier in December, stands pat at number seven.
Donaire is also on top of The Ring's junior featherweight rankings as champion.
The rest of the top 10 in the pound-for-pound rankings stayed the same, with Floyd Mayweather on top, followed by Andre Ward, Juan Manuel Marquez and Sergio Martinez from first to fourth, respectively.
Rounding out the bottom part of the top 10 are Wladimir Klitschko, Timothy Bradley, and Robert Guerrero. - AMD, GMA News
