Mayweather responds to Khan's challenge: 'My focus right now is Pacquiao'

Unbeaten pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather shrugged off a challenge from British fighter Amir Khan, saying he had only one name on his mind for his next fight: Manny Pacquiao.

Khan laid down the challenge on Mayweather this past weekend after a dominant performance against Devon Alexander.

But Mayweather made it clear that Khan is not yet in his league — as a fighter and as a box office draw.

"Khan should make a name for himself. Right now nobody knows who Amir Khan is, only boxing people. I think he should wait a bit," said Mayweather a group of reporters during the WBC convention held in Las Vegas earlier this week.

Last week, Mayweather made headlines after calling out Pacquiao, giving fresh hope that a showdown between to fighters would finally push through.

"My focus right now is Pacquiao and I want that fight. Basically the first time we didn't do the fight because of drug testing, the second he turned down $40 million and now I don't know, another excuse [will come from] Bob Arum, but hopefully [it happens]," said Mayweather. — JST, GMA News
