Mayweather 'too smart, too intelligent' for Pacquiao, says ex-world champ

Retired two-time world junior middleweight champion Fernando Vargas will be putting his money on Floyd Mayweather against Manny Pacquiao if the much-await megafight finally becomes reality.

With Mayweather an early 3-to-1 favorite according to oddsmakers, Vargas said that the unbeaten American's advantage will be his ring intelligence.

"He’s too smart, too intelligent," Vargas told thaboxingvoice.com.

"If you have gloves on you have a chance, but Floyd is just too smart. He takes care of his body."

Vargas, who fought the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Tito Trinidad, and Shane Mosley, noted that while both fighters are already past their prime, he would still gladly pay to watch them battle.

"The fight with Marquez exposed Pacquiao, so it doesn’t have the same price value, but I’m still gonna buy it," said Vargas.

"Everyone was saying how much they would never fight, now the fight is here to come, and I’m gonna watch it." — JST, GMA News
