Why Oscar De La Hoya wants to see Mayweather say yes to Pacquiao

Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya is hoping that Floyd Mayweather will choose to fight Manny Pacquiao instead of his own GBP fighter Amir Khan.

The retired six-division champion is convinced that Pacquiao-Mayweather is bound to break boxing records should the super fight come to fruition.

De La Hoya believes that three people are currently in the running to fight the unbeaten American fighter.

"You have Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto and obviously you have Manny Pacquiao," De La Hoya told Boxingscene.com.

"I'm really hoping it is Pacquiao, because that's the fight the whole industry wants to see, that's the fight that will revitalize the whole industry, [the fight that] will shatter records in boxing. I'm hoping that fight does happen. We'll just wait and see."

Mexican fan favorite Saul Alvarez is also slated to fight on May 2. But should Pacquiao-Mayweather gets signed, De La Hoya said he is more than willing to move Alvarez' bout to another date. —JST, GMA News
