Mayweather Sr. defends son: Floyd was not forced to fight Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather's father and trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. defended his son from allegations that he was simply forced to fight Manny Pacquiao due to public pressure.

To counter the accusations, the elder Mayweather explained that Pacquiao happens to be an easy opponent that his son wanted to fight.

"Not true (that Mayweather was forced to fight). This fight here will be one of my son's easiest fights," Floyd Sr. told fighthype.com.

One of the prominent names who felt that Mayweather was simply pressured to fight the Filipino ring icon was retired six-division world champion and Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya.

"I do feel that Mayweather was pressured into this fight," De La Hoya told USA Today some weeks ago.

"I believe that Mayweather was boxed in from the pressure coming from (CBS CEO) Les Moonves, the pressure coming from Bob Arum, the pressure coming from Pacquiao and the pressure coming from Golden Boy."

But the defiant Floyd Sr. has a pat answer to that.
