Mayweather: Only McGregor, not Pacquiao, can make me come out of retirement

Floyd Mayweather has made it clear that he wouldn't return to the ring for — even for another lucrative fight against Manny Pacquiao.

Instead, the former pound-for-pound no. 1 said the only fighter that can make him come out of retirement is UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

"If I do fight, it's only against Conor McGregor, not against nobody else because this matchup is so intriguing," Mayweather told ESNews.

"You have [a boxer] against an MMA fighter, one of the best MMA fighters to ever stand up and do it. He's a strong fighter and when I look at his fights, he's a little faster than I thought he was."

Mayweather, 39, also feels that his prospective showdown against McGregor could top the record breaking numbers that Pacquiao vs. Mayweather produced. And though the fight is far from getting done, Mayweather feels positive as early as now that they can actually make it happen.

"We probably could break that number. Anything is possible," Mayweather said.

"I'm pretty sure we're going to have a master plan to make that fight happen. It hasn't happened yet but we locked down some dates, me and my team, me and Al Haymon, me and Leonard Ellerbe. We locked down some dates, in different countries, in different cities in the United States." —JM Siasat/JST, GMA News
