Matthysse unfazed by Duterte’s plan to watch match vs. Pacquiao in Malaysia

Argentine boxer Lucas Matthysse is not fazed by the fact that President Rodrigo Duterte will be watching his match with the Philippines' boxing icon and Senator Manny Pacquiao in Malaysia.

A report by Mav Gonzales in Balitanghali on Wednesday said that the news had no effect on the boxer because when it comes to it, it will only be him and Pacquiao in the ring.

Matthysse is more motivated to bring home the belt now that Argentina is out of the World Cup, the report added.

Matthysse and Pacquiao each held an open workout in Kuala Lumpur, where their match is going to be held on July 15.

The Argentine boxer is still 2 pounds overweight when he weighed in on Tuesday, but his team is confident he will make the 147-pound weight limit.

Duterte is set to fly to Malaysia this weekend to watch the title fight and meet with Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque told GMA News Online that Duterte’s trip to Malaysia would be a private one and not an official or working visit. — Jessica Bartolome/BM, GMA News
