Pacquiao wants to visit ex-coach Freddie Roach, remains open to working with him again

If the opportunity strikes, new World Boxing Association welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao would like to visit his former coach and legend Freddie Roach.

"Gusto ko bisitahin siya, kamustahin. Legend na rin yan eh. Si Freddie Roach. Legend," Pacquiao said in a report by Mav Gonzales on Tuesday for Balitanghali.

He also remains open with working with his long-time coach: "Depende. Open pa rin naman din ako kay Freddie Roach. Pwede ko pa rin siyang kunin."

Months prior to the fight, Pacquiao had briefly considered Roach for his training camp for the fight against Lucas Matthysse, whom the senator beat for the title on Sunday.

Roach previously expressed hurt for the snub from the senator, who was under his advisement for 15 years.

Pacquiao replaced Roach with his childhood friend Buboy Fernandez, who served as Roach's assistant prior to his promotion. — Rie Takumi/LA, GMA News
