Pacquiao should avoid Terrence Crawford and Errol Spence, says Arum

Top Rank head honcho Bob Arum believes that a fight against IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. or WBO world welterweight champion Terrence Crawford would be a bit too much for Manny Pacquiao to handle.

Arum, who used to promote Pacquiao, cites that the Filipino boxing icon is not the same fighter he used to be at 40 years old.

"Manny doesn't really want to fight Crawford. And the question is, should he? It's not like he's a spring chicken, he's a guy in his 40s and that means something," Arum told boxingscene.com.

"A guy in his 40s can run the risk of injury, where a guy in his 30s wouldn't run that risk. Cranium is different and everything, so I wouldn't like Manny to fight either Crawford or Spence. I think that's a bridge too far."

The Hall of Fame promoter, however, says that there are still feasible fights out there for boxing's only eight-division champion despite his age.

"I think if you put him in with a Porter, Porter is not an elite welterweight and Manny can probably handle him or not get hurt," he said.

"That would be an okay fight or Danny Garcia who doesn't punch very hard, that would be a good fight for Manny. But Crawford or Spence is a bridge too far, truthfully." — BAP, GMA News
