Jonathan Taconing training for WBC world title fight

PARAÑAQUE CITY - Filipino contender Jonathan Taconing is winding down in training camp as he prepares to challenge WBC world light flyweight champion Ken Shiro on July 12 at the EDION Arena in Osaka, Japan.

Taconing did six rounds of sparring with two different partners, however his team requested not to record the session as they diligently worked on their game plan. He then hit the double-end bag, speedball and did shadow boxing to wrap up his training.

The upcoming fight would mark Taconing's third bid for a world title. He suffered a controversial technical decision defeat against Kompayak Porpramook in 2012, and was soundly beaten in his second attempt by Ganigan Lopez by unanimous decision in 2016. — BAP, GMA News
