McGregor keen to challenge Pacquiao, says he was 'close' to inking fight with Pacman

After fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr., Conor McGregor is keen to return to the boxing ring and challenge another legend: Manny Pacquiao.

"I would be open to other boxing bouts. You know, Manny... We're actually close to signing Manny," McGregor said in an interview on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show.

"Me and Manny. There's been talks about the Manny fight," he said. "There was an offer made on that, yeah. Just not yet, not yet."

The Irish mixed martial artist fought Mayweather in 2017 and lost via technical knockout in the 10th round.

McGregor is seeking a rematch against the retired American boxer. The two were previously reported to be facing each other on the octagon, but no fight has materialized yet.

"I know I'd beat Floyd if we rematched and when we rematched," he said. "I've done phenomenal in that bout. And the only reason I lost that bout was 'cause I prepared for backfooted finisher style of opponent. And when the fight was like that I was picking him apart." —MGP, GMA News
