Tyson vs. Jones goes the distance, ends in a 'draw'

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and former four-division titleholder Roy Jones Jr. battled it out until the final bell of their two-minute, eight-round bout en route to a draw this Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The 54-year-old Tyson went to attack in the early going as promised. Jones, meanwhile, utilized every inch of the small ring as he jabbed and moved away from danger.

Tyson was eager to land his bombs throughout the fight, but Jones stuck to his game plan and tied up whenever the former heavyweight champ got close.

In times when the 51-year-old Jones unleashed his flurries, Tyson would showcase that he still has the same head movement that he had in his prime. Tyson threw hard body shots all night and rocked Jones with a combination before the end of round 5.

Tyson never stopped pressing until the end while Jones showcased that he can still flurry like he used to do.

Though the bout ended in a draw, it would not go to either man’s record as the contest was a mere exhibition and no official winner will be recognized by the California State Athletic Commission. — LA, GMA News
