Jerwin Ancajas predicts: If Casimero lands, Rigondeaux is going to sleep

By JM SIASAT

Reigning IBF world super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas believes that it would take WBO world bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero one power punch to put Guillermo Rigondeaux to sleep when they fight on August 14 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, USA.

“In my opinion, Casimero is the favorite to win this fight. We all know that Rigondeaux is aging, in his last few fights he gets into brawls. He is not the same when he fought Donaire because back then he was very fast. He is not the same,” Ancajas told GMA News Online.

Casimero, 32, had won all of his last six fights by stoppage. He last saw action against Duke Micah this past September at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, USA where he won by way of third-round technical knockout.

But Rigondeaux is no walk in the park and is the most decorated prizefighter that Casimero has to face inside the ring. He holds a record of 20-1 with 13 knockouts and is popularly known for defeating Nonito Donaire via unanimous decision in 2013.

“Casimero's power will dictate the fight. This is a battle of power and technique. If can Casimero can land then he can put Rigo to sleep. This is a 50-50 fight,” Ancajas predicted. — LA, GMA News
